Start Here Project Development specializes in fundraising, copywriting and editing, and government contracts. We present your vision irresistibly.
Start Here’s fundraising expertise takes many forms: We help develop projects by connecting clients with the appropriate funders, writing grant proposals and private requests, and also helping with capital campaigns.
Our copywriting feats range from press releases, to entire newsletters, to feature articles. We edit annual reports and other business and technical documents, and design Websites (heeding search engine optimization, of course!). We write e-newsletters and manage lists of subscribers, fans, or political constituencies. If it’s a government contract you’re after, we prepare your bid for you!
Start Here’s clients include: The Children Affected by AIDS Foundation; ESPN; Planet Cancer; The University of Mississippi Foundation; Realtruism; Ship Chandlers Associated LTD; The William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation; Stand up to Cancer; CURE; Quest; and more. There’s a place for you!
Founder
Christopher Schultz first wrote two grant proposals for a nonprofit his mother ran while he was in college. She’d lost her development director and asked Chris to help her out. Three months later, she was awarded nearly $300,000, about ten times her prior annual budget.
After graduating from Duke, Chris spent four years as a logistics officer in the Navy, learning the ins and outs of government contracts. He lived in New York after the Navy, where he made his living as a writer and editor. In 2002 he moved to Oxford, Miss., where he co-founded Easy Laundry, a laundry and dry-cleaning delivery service. Chris founded Start Here in 2004 after preparing a successful government contract bid worth more than $5 million.
In addition to helming Start Here, Christopher Schultz has written for The New York Times, Esquire, Men’s Journal, ESPN The Magazine, Spin, The New York Sun, and Shenandoah.
