The Children Affected by AIDS Foundation, a Start Here partner based in Los Angeles, Calif., recently expanded its national support of children affected by HIV/AIDS into the Latin American/Caribbean region. CAAF’s Prevention by Intervention (PBI) is an ambitious and comprehensive initiative that aims to stop the rise of mother-to-child HIV transmission in the region by working with local hospitals, governments, and caregivers.
Gilead Sciences, an international leader in developing medications that advance the care of patients suffering from life-threatening diseases, will fund the training of HIV caregivers in Guatemala, the first host country of Prevention by Intervention. In researching prospects for PBI, Start Here linked Gilead and CAAF, and prepared the Gilead proposal . We wish CAAF the best as they continue to develop this amazing program!
